OLL Algorithms
Orient Last Layer - All 57 Cases
💡 Tip: Start with 2-Look OLL (10 algorithms) before learning all 57 cases!
🎨 Pattern Guide: In the diagrams below, Yellow = correctly oriented, Gray = needs flipping
What is OLL?
OLL (Orient Last Layer) is the third stage of CFOP. After completing F2L, you use OLL to make the top face all one color. There are 57 possible cases.

These are the easiest OLL cases - learn these first!

Dot Cases (8 cases)
No edges oriented - just a dot in the center
OLL 1: Dot - All Wrong
All corners and edges wrong
R U2 R2 F R F' U2 R' F R F'
OLL 2: Dot - Slash
Diagonal line pattern
F R U R' U' F' f R U R' U' f'
OLL 3: Dot - Wide Sune
Modified Sune for dot case
f R U R' U' f' U' F R U R' U' F'
OLL 4: Dot - C Shape
C or hook shape
f R U R' U' f' U F R U R' U' F'
Note: There are 4 more dot cases (OLL 17-20) with various corner orientations. These are less common.
Learning Strategy
🎯 Stage 2: Common Cases
Learn 20 most frequent OLLs
Good for sub-20🚀 Stage 3: Full OLL
Master all 57 cases
Needed for sub-15OLL Recognition Tips
- Count edges first: How many edges are oriented? (0, 1, 2, or 4)
- Look for patterns: T, Square, Fish, Lightning, etc.
- Check headlights: Two matching corner colors on one side
- Practice recognition: Scramble, identify case, repeat (without solving)
Important: Don't learn all 57 at once! Focus on understanding patterns and learning in groups.

Fast OLL is about recognition speed, not algorithm speed!
